One of the treck i will advice you without even thinking is the one of “Valle delle Feriere” also known in english as Mill Valley trecking. Hidden behind the beautifull city of Amalfi this trecking will allow you to take a step back and look at the city from the top but also to admire the mountain of the coast.
I highly recommend this path if you are coming here in summer because you will walk near refreshing waterfall and be covered by the shadow of the tree. This place is a must for guides but always stays really calm even in touristic periods.
There are different ways to do this trecking: or from Amalfi to the top, in the city of Pontone or in the reverse direction:
- From Amalfi to Pontone:
Let’s start from the center of Amalfi ! After the cathedral, follow the main street of Amalfi in direction of the paper museum. Then when you pass the museum you will see stairs on your right: it’s the beginning of your journey !
The path starts with around 100 steps and a beautiful view of the Amalfi mountains. Also this first part is not covered so if you are walking there in the summer I advice you to begin it in the morning so that when the hit starts you will be already under the tree.
On the way don’t hesitate to stop to Agricola Fore Porta, a cute restaurant nestled into the mountain. After the steps that you just climb, I swear that you will enjoy a nice lemon juice.
From Pontone to Amalfi
To reach Pontone, you can take a bus from the center of Amalfi. Near the port, you will find the bus station where you need to search for the one that goes to Ravello/Scala. The Bus stop is on the left of the place when you look at the sea. Don’t forget to ask the driver to stop in Pontone if you don’t know when to push the button. You can also ask a local to indicate it to you. You can’t buy your ticket on the bus, so you will have to go in a “Tabbacco” to get it.
You will find the timetable on the website of Sitabus.
Once you stop in the city of Pontone, follow the indications of Vallee delle ferriere to find your path and go down to Amalfi.
